Do you ever book a house, chalet or apartment for your holidays? If so, you're certainly not alone!
Redion's Holiday Rentals Barometer, published in April 2021, clearly showed the growing number of holidaymakers who prefer renting a house or apartment to spend their family holiday.
This trend was confirmed in Redion's 2021 Summer Holiday Barometer.
The coronavirus crisis has, more than ever, encouraged many holidaymakers to choose a private, personalised way to stay for their holidays, whether in accommodation rented out by a private individual, or in accommodation rented through a specialised organisation.
This type of accommodation, combined with a seasonal rental, lets holidaymakers choose the comfort and facilities they're looking for in order to spend their stay in an environment sometimes far from the crowds. Other holidaymakers will instead choose accommodation in a city centre, so they can more easily enjoy cultural discoveries, or opt for accommodation close to sports facilities.
Accidents happen quickly
With a seasonal rental, the tenant is required to pay a deposit. This gives the owner the guarantee of having a minimum amount of funds available to cover any damage or losses caused by the tenant (or other occupants, or even a pet) during the rental period.
An accident can indeed happen quickly (e.g. an object falling and breaking, a broken window or door, damage to furniture due to negligence or an oversight, etc.)
Repair and/or replacement costs can therefore quickly add up and even exceed the amount of the deposit.
Easy Rent: protecting your rental deposit
That's why Redion Belgium offers the Easy Rent product.
This insurance product covers the deposit paid by the tenant of a seasonal rental to the owner of a fixed rental property (so not a boat, caravan or motorhome...).
It provides reimbursement of all repair costs for the seasonal rental, or the lower of the costs incurred to replace or repair furniture in the event of material damage caused by the tenant or an occupant. Based on documents proving the loss and the repair or replacement costs, these costs will be reimbursed up to the amount guaranteed by the policy taken out.
As the deposit can vary depending on the property rented, we offer different levels of coverage caps.
The basic "ECO" plan covers a deposit of up to EUR 250, the "STANDARD" plan covers a deposit of up to EUR 500, the "TRANQUILITY" plan covers up to EUR 1,000, the "ESSENTIAL" plan covers up to EUR 1,500, the "PREMIUM" plan covers up to EUR 3,000 and the "PRIVILEGE" plan covers up to EUR 5,000.
The policyholder taking out the contract must be domiciled in Belgium, but the rented property can be located anywhere in the world.
What's more, Easy Rent insurance gives tenants of seasonal rental contracts taken out in Belgium the option of calling on a legal assistance service in the event of a dispute with the owner.
