Assuralia draws up the TOP 5 reasons for trip cancellation.
On 23 June 2016, Assuralia, the Belgian professional association of insurance companies, published the results of its survey on the main reasons for trip cancellation, conducted among various cancellation insurers, including Redion.
The survey drew up the top 5 reasons for cancelling a trip
70% cancel due to a health problem or illness. 10% cancel due to an accident or their vehicle being out of action a few days before departure or on the day of departure. 10% cancel due to the death of a relative. 5% cancel for a reason linked to their working life (redundancy, new job, cancelled leave, covering for a colleague, …). 5% cancel for an administrative reason (an exam, visa refusal, stolen or lost passport, a summons, …).
These percentages match the trends observed by Redion in the trip cancellation requests for its NoGo product.
The survey also points out that the top 3 covers the reasons that are most obvious or that come to mind fastest when cancellation is mentioned (illness, accident, death), but that many other reasons can be given for cancelling a trip.
