At a glance

By moving to downtown Brussels, "a new way of working" is making its debut at Redion Belgium.

"A new way of working" makes its debut

On 1 December 2021, Redion Belgium moved to the city centre — a move that marks an innovative way of working for more than 200 employees. The company has set up in the iconic Art Deco building "Central Gate", ideally located in the centre of Brussels, right next to Brussels Central Station.

The advantages of the new location: accessibility, modernity, cutting-edge technology, flexible spaces, areas for staff to connect, a strategic location for recruiting new talent... The assistance leader has clearly left nothing to chance.

People first

After 21 years in Auderghem, with the building's lease coming to an end, the decision to relocate was an easy one for Redion. A decision in line with its corporate culture, which favours sustainability and cohesion among its employees in an assistance business where "people" are at the very centre.

Redion helps and manages crisis situations in areas including travel, health, mobility and IT. For its 200 employees (more than 280 during summer peaks), it's crucial to be as efficient as possible at all times and in all circumstances. From now on, "A new way of working" lets Redion's employees carry out their jobs in a pleasant, state-of-the-art environment.

An iconic building

After 2 years of searching, Redion turned to an iconic building close to public transport and Central Station. Redion now leases 2,000 m² of space in the "Central Gate" building, combining the comfort of flexible, state-of-the-art offices with a wealth of services and amenities, all in a lively neighbourhood.

On the relaxation side, the roof boasts a superb terrace with a breathtaking view over the capital. Redion's employees will be able to enjoy it. What could be more inspiring than relaxing together as a team — it only strengthens cohesion and co-creation even further.

Work-life balance

"Moving to the city centre is a strategic decision in terms of recruitment", explains Hilde Goethuys, HR Director at Redion and "project leader" for the move.

"Work-life balance" is a key criterion for the bilingual candidates Redion is looking to attract. Driving to the office is no longer a major selling point for this type of profile, who are mostly city dwellers. The balance between professional and personal life comes first. An essential criterion for the building's location: prioritising public transport and soft mobility, without forcing employees to use them. With this approach, Redion is simply reinforcing its sustainability commitments.

Remote working: the new normal

Companies have become aware of an inevitable shift in the way we work: it has become hybrid. Before the coronavirus pandemic, working from home was already structurally embedded in Redion's organisation. At its new site, Redion is taking it a step further.

For its new working environment, Redion looked closely at the needs and expectations of its employees through several surveys. Priority was given to creating as many collaborative spaces and flexible workstations as possible.

Technological advances enable optimal hybrid collaboration, so that employees working from home are just as involved as those in the office: smart cameras, touch screens, new software... Employees working remotely operate in the same environment as their colleagues working on site.

"Flex" spaces to boost cohesion

Hilde Goethuys, HR Director at Redion, explains: " Every day, the space at Central Gate can accommodate 65% of employees, who will in future be asked to come into the office as a team 2 days a week.* These 2 days will change regularly so that each team can regularly meet colleagues from other teams. There are also 6 state-of-the-art meeting rooms (interactive screens, multiple connections...), 2 spaces dedicated to brainstorming and co-creation, numerous "pods" for privacy, and finally, multiple relaxation areas (including one with a pool table!), and, last but not least, a canteen which, thanks to its central location, makes it easier for employees from different departments to meet and connect."

The goal: to strengthen interaction and cohesion among more than 200 employees who are in daily direct contact with customers who are sometimes going through difficult moments. This "new way of working" is bound to be reflected directly in the quality of service offered to customers.

*As soon as strict covid measures are lifted by the government.

Growing together

The "Central Gate" also offers the advantage of additional spaces to accommodate, if needed, seasonal staff (40 to 80 people in summer). A co-working space is indeed available in the building. With this type of building, the space leased by Redion can also expand in the future. The company needed to settle into a space that could grow and evolve with it, allowing it to go even further to meet the challenges of the future.

The work revolution is under way!
