Redion

At a glance

During the summer, Redion's "operations floor" turns into a real beehive. What actually happens there?

During the summer, Redion's "operations floor" turns into a real beehive. What actually happens there?

Redion's "operations floor", the true nerve centre of assistance activities, is made up of a large number of assistance coordinators and experts specialised in the different product lines that make up the company's core business: technical assistance for vehicles in Belgium and abroad, medical assistance, and home assistance.

The permanent staff

The experienced, seasoned permanent staff deal around the clock with requests from policyholders. These requests range from the most common problems (e.g. a car breakdown due to a battery issue or a flat tyre) to highly complex cases requiring all of Redion's know-how, experience and network reach (e.g. an injured or sick person repatriated under medical supervision with sophisticated equipment, along with the return of their other travel companions).

The students

During the summer months, this permanent team receives help from dozens of reinforcements. These are students specially recruited and trained to lend a hand. These students can therefore be involved in the full range of activities on the assistance floor. Within a few weeks, the assistance floor becomes a genuine beehive!

Recruitment of students begins in February and ends in late May. Based on the applications received, recruiters carry out a phone screening to check their level of bilingualism (French-Dutch). If a candidate is selected, after a brief presentation of the company and the tasks they'll be carrying out, they must pass two tests (one written, one by phone) that assess their analytical thinking, their resistance to stress and their ability to process the information they receive.
Passing all of these tests potentially opens the doors of the operations floor to them for a period of at least one month during the summer season.

Redion Belgium therefore recruits bilingual candidates (French-Dutch), but fluency in English and another language such as German, Spanish or Italian (or others) is of course an additional asset.

Each year, Redion Belgium hires several dozen students, around half of whom are “returning” students, i.e. students who come back for several consecutive years. These students gradually take on greater responsibility. They handle calls, follow up on cases and are supervised by a team of experienced assistance coordinators.

Testimonial

The best “feedback” from students at the end of their placement is their enthusiasm to come back, and above all the growing number of students who want to keep working during the school year, outside of school holidays!

Testimonial from Niko (22), journalism student:

“More than a year ago, Redion took me on as a student worker for a month. The experience went so well that I've been working there during the school year for several months now. Redion offers the opportunity to join a young, dynamic and cheerful team. But that's not all. As a university student, my class schedule is very variable. Thanks to Redion's flexibility, I've been able to fit my work schedule around my class schedule.
The atmosphere in the office is guaranteed to be great, and the work is very well organised and structured, which means members get the best possible assistance.
I've done about ten different student jobs so far, but this one is rewarding and fulfilling, …. it's a golden job!”
