Glamping

At a glance

You know camping. But have you ever heard of "glamping", the new trend that combines "glamour" and "camping"?

Everyone knows how camping works. But have you ever heard of "glamping", the new trend that combines "glamour" and "camping"?

Camping out in the wild in a yurt, an igloo, a tipi or a hut... but a luxury one. Tempted?

What is glamping, exactly?

Glamping is a new tourism trend that lets you camp out in nature without the drawbacks of ordinary camping. This concept is unique in mixing camping, luxury, nature and environmental awareness to give you an unusual night's stay.

Very trendy

Glamping was born in Africa in the mid-2000s and very quickly spread across the whole globe, so you can "glamp" even in Antarctica!

This luxury camping is appealing because it lets you enjoy nature and stay in more remote places while lacking nothing. The services are generally very comprehensive. In short, you can enjoy 5-star comfort right in the middle of the bush.

A wide range of luxury accommodation

This "ready-to-camp" concept offers a whole range of accommodation styles. You can choose to sleep in a tent, a hut, an igloo, a tipi, a yurt, a treehouse, a bungalow, a "sphere tent" or even under the stars. Of course, not every type of accommodation is available everywhere. Prices vary greatly depending on the country, the type of accommodation and the activities on offer. In Belgium, you can expect to pay between €100 and €300 per night for two people.

Whatever you choose, comfort is guaranteed. So no more waking up with a sore back, creatures in the tent, or shivering with cold at night, etc.

Respecting nature

Eco-chic camping favours minimalist facilities, or at least ones that blend discreetly into nature. What's more, this comfort-focused type of camping fits into an ecotourism approach — tourism that respects the environment: electrical devices are recharged using solar power, rooms are lit with LED lamps, and plates are filled with local, organic food.

Where can you find places to stay?

You can find some good addresses around the world here or on Go Glamping.

Note: given how successful this concept has become, many holiday villages or camps now brand themselves as "glamping" to attract more customers.
Don't be fooled: real glamping takes place in remote locations, out in nature, in removable accommodation.
