How do you request medical assistance?
Who should you contact first?
-
In an emergency (in need of urgent medical help): always contact the local emergency services first. (The international emergency number is 112. This number works in all European Union countries).
-
For medical issues: always see a local doctor first, or, if needed, go to a local hospital.
Procedure to follow
- Give the local treating doctor or local hospital your European Health Insurance Card.
- Notify Redion as quickly as possible, preferably within 48 hours. Do this by calling +32 2 533 75 75 or using our app if you've downloaded it, or by clicking the button below:
Give us: - your name, contract number, date of birth, address in Belgium; - your exact location as well as a (mobile) phone number where we can reach you; - if applicable, your GP's contact details in Belgium and who else should be notified; - in case of hospitalisation: the exact contact details of the hospital as well as the name of the doctor in charge of your case.
For outpatient care, always ask for a medical report addressed to our doctors.
For urgent medical care, Redion's doctor will contact their local counterpart(s) to decide whether a repatriation or a transfer to another hospital is appropriate.
Requesting reimbursement of medical costs
- First send your documents to your health insurance fund.
- Then send Redion the original statement from your health insurance fund, a copy of your invoices, and your account number.
